OPENING NIGHT FEATURE FILM - Thursday 5th November, 6.45pm Ognjen Sviličić, 82 mins, Croatia/Germany/Bosnia Herzegovina, 2007, 35mm, Croatian/Bosnian/German/English (English subtitles), MA15+ The award-winning poignant story of Armin, a teenager from a small Bosnian village, and his father Ibro, who has dreams of his child becoming an actor. Together they travel to Croatia so that Armin can audition for a German production about the Bosnian war. The experience tests their ability to keep their dignity in a daunting environment and in the face of unexpected occurrences. ‘Armin’ is a beautiful film with many subtle layers, minimalistic dialogue and an ending that will stay with you for a long time. A selection of the awards the film has won: Golden Anchor Award (Special Mention) for the Best Film made in a Mediterranean Country Fripesci Award for Best Foreign Language Film of the Year Award for Best Actor to Emir Hadzihafizbegovic for “a great minimalist, subtle, but extremely accurate performance.
